Silver Buttonwood is the perfect choice when considering seaside plantings. This handsome Florida native is salt and drought tolerant. Usually grown as an open shrub or tree, it is an ideal choice for a more formal hedge. Characteristic silver foliage is covered in a fuzzy pubescence making it a favorite of little hands. The flowers are inconspicuous but are followed by fruit clusters of brownish-red cone-like buttons. This tough plant is pollution tolerant and even puts up with compacted soil.
