Boehmeria is a genus of about 100 species of flowering plants in the nettle family, native to Asia and North America. Although related to nettles, this genus does not have stinging hairs. Known locally as 'Sandpaper Plant' this low mounding plant has thick, highly textured leaves, bilobed and shaped like a hoof. Its low growing habit and attractive evergreen foliage makes it a perfect groundcover or border. Flowers are pendulous cream colored catkins.
